Beware of pain you get used to!

January 21, 20262 min read

One of the most stressful and urgent tasks at the start of a new school year is reorganising Google Workspace accounts & reallocating Workspace licences for teachers and students.

This is not a nice-to-have, but a necessity!

  • Students and staff will have left

  • New students and staff will have arrived

  • Existing students will have changed year levels and classes

In addition, each school is allocated a limited number of Google Workspace Education Plus licences, which must be reallocated to staff and students in 2026. The issue here is that “ghost accounts” will still be using these licences, leaving insufficient licences for everyone else.

Last but not least, if you don't assign all of your reallocated licences, you're at risk of having them reduced under the Google and MoE licensing agreement.

“The Google for Education agreement provides schools with Ministry-funded Google Workspace licenses. Google Workspace is an annual subscription, and at the time of renewal, if the assignment rate does not meet the requirement, schools are subject to a decrease in their overall allowed license quantity.”

To help your new year start smoothly and hassle-free, we've teamed up with our ICT support Gurus, Support IT Ltd, who will take care of the inconvenience and pain of getting it all done for you in time for the start of term.
